Dr Simon Berrisford, GP
“In my practice as a GP and also as a hospice physician, I find current methods of collecting urine samples totally unsatisfactory. Most patients find it is almost impossible to provide an actual MID-STREAM sample - which is what an MSU is all about.
When I first saw the Peezy, I was bowled over by its elegance and simplicity, whilst its clever design delivers exactly what the physician wants - the mid-stream part of the urine sample. This is vital so as to give a valid result, which we will use to diagnose and treat the patient. Accurate results are important both for delivering best treatment for the patient and in controlling costs both on invalid tests and unnecessary prescriptions.
The number of samples collected per doctor per practice is very significant and I believe offers a huge market for the Peezy. I think it is a much needed solution to a very old and ongoing problem and would love to be able to use it in my clinical practice. I am sure that most doctors and nurses who see the Peezy will feel the same.”

“Hospital acquired infection is a major problem in today's NHS. Obtaining urine samples is currently a procedure that is very variable in both collection methods and infection control procedures surrounding the collection. There is no universally consistent and safe method of MSU collection in general use. The Peezy can change all this and has enormous potential as a tool to help the fight against infections contracted in hospitals and GP surgeries. Infections that can be carried in urine include Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Hepatitis B and C, HIV and MRSA, as well as all the more common organisms of urinary tract infection such as E Coli. This elegantly simple device can make a major contribution to improved patient care and the health and safety of doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians, cleaning staff and many others in the NHS. I look forward to seeing it used in my clinics and on the wards.”
