Medical Futures Innovation Awards 2001: Female Freedom Funnel, AstraZeneca Prize for Best Medical Innovation

Non-principal GP Dr Vincent Forte has invented a paper funnel for women, which is designed to take the mess out of providing a urine sample. The Freedom Funnel won Dr Forte a prize for the best medical invention at the Medical Futures Awards last year. A year later, he has almost finalised a funnel prototype and hopes to market it throughout the UK and US. "I hope to be able to retire within a few years," he jokes.
