NHS PRESCRIPTION SERVICES APPROVE PEEZY
05.03.10
Peezy was today approved for Drug Tariff Listing by NHS Prescription Services. The multiple Award winning urine collection system will be available through prescribing Doctors and Nurses from 1st May 2010.
"Its wonderful to see the NHS is in tune with women and prepared to dispense dignity and hygiene," says Giovanna Forte, Managing Director of Funnelly Enough, Peezy manufacturer.
"With around 85% of prescriptions fulfilled at no cost to the patient this means that the vast majority will receive Peezy free at the the point of delivery. This is of particular benefit to pregnant women or those with persistent UTIs where providing a pure mid-stream urine sample can be at best an irritation and at worst a messy and undignified nuisance."
Peezy has been shown to be especially helpful to the elderly, the very young and those with learning difficulties because it is easy for a Carer to hold the device in place by holding the bottle; collection can take place in a relaxed manner with no need for the patient to announce when their stream is about to start and no worries by either party about inappropriate contact.
Trials are taking place at one of the UK's most pioneering and patient-centric teaching hospitals, the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Hospital. The results will provide hard data on infection control and contamination benefits of the unique device that has been welcomed by women across the UK.
Peezy is available direct to the public and to Primary Care Health services through Williams Medical Supplies and to Hospitals and the Private Sector through In Capital Health. See our Contacts page for details.
