Peezy shortlisted for prestigious Design Week Award 2009

05.12.08

Peezy, the elegant and compact new urine collector for women has been shortlisted for a prestigious Design Week Award. One of just five products announced in the Industrial Design Category, Peezy was judged on quality of design and execution including aesthetics, innovation and appropriateness of form and function.

A revolutionary new product that enhances patient care, Peezy collects only the ‘gold standard’ mid-stream, whilst eliminating urine spillage and splashing. The result is a much lower risk of bacterial substrate being left on toilet seats, floors and users’ hands, reducing risk of cross-infection and improving hygiene and infection control in medical settings. Peezy also reduces the need for costly retests required because of contamination from “first burst” urine.

“Reaching the shortlist of the Design Week Awards is an incredible achievement,” says Giovanna Forte, Managing Director of Funnelly Enough. ”Ours is a small business set up to launch an important new product. We are certain that Peezy will help clean up hospitals and surgeries at the most basic level and, when more widely adopted, offer huge savings to the NHS. Peezy is British designed and manufactured and we’re also incredibly proud about that.”

Invented by Dr Vincent Forte, Peezy  (as the Female Freedom Funnel) won the inaugural MedicalFutures Award, Innovation Category 2001. Joined by his sister Giovanna, the duo privately funded product development and R&D until in 2006 their company Funnelly Enough Ltd secured private equity funding through E-Synergy Ltd. Funnelly Enough won The Mayor’s Business Award in Hackney, 2006.
